Microscopic Photography
Microscopy is the art of creating photographs using a microscope.
I was generously given a microscope which I have been using to explore microscopic photography.
I experimented with different subjects such as onion skin and insect wings and wanted a way to record what I has seen and easily share it with friends and family. I found that, by placing my phone camera lens on the microscope's eye piece, I could easily take photographs of what I had seen.
Images (top left to bottom right): 1. Leaf vein 2. Cells in a leaf 3. Bee wing 4. Butterfly wing 5. Plant root 6. Rhubarb stoma
I was excited to find that I could see and photograph several cell structures I had learnt about in biology, including plant cells with their nuclei (where their DNA is stored) and stomata in plant leaves (holes which open and close to allow gasses to enter and leave the leaf).
It has been really fun to experiment with a new type of photography!
