Harping for the Sunrise
Today is the summer solstice which is the day with the most hours of daylight. This morning I got up at 4am for a special adventure which was to see the sunrise for my first time and be interviewed for Radio Gloucestershire.
Normally I am tucked up in bed until much later and don't like getting up but today I was very keen not to oversleep.
By 4.30am I was at Selsley Common with my camera and my harp. I was surprised how light it was even before the sun had risen.
The sky was a blue-grey yet the clouds on the horizon were beginning to glow with a golden light.
As the sun peeped over the horizon Morwenna Rose, my harp teacher and her friend Tom and I played for it despite my hands being frozen. The sky turned more orange and created a beautiful light. Everywhere was quiet except for birdsong and our harps. I thought it was a very magical experience.
