Wildlife on the river

Today I went into Stroud to drop off some photo-cards that I had made for some shops to sell. Afterwards, as I had my camera with me, my Mum and I went for a walk by the river Frome.

The walk next to the river is managed by Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and we had heard that

one of the rangers had spotted an otter there so we decided to go and look for ourselves.

Unfortunately we had no such luck, however we did spot a little brown and white bird which we had not seen before, when we got home we identified it as a dipper. We were also lucky enough to see and even photograph a kingfisher! Do you know that there are 87 species of kingfisher in the world but only one that breeds in Europe which is the Alcedo atthis.
